FAQ

How long have you been photographing weddings?

I did my first ever wedding 11 years ago. I caught the bug and decided that one day I wanted to do this full time. I assisted at more and more weddings until the beginning of 2015 when I decided I needed to make this a reality so I shifted my focus from landscapes to weddings.

I’ve been photographing landscapes for 15 years and love incorporating that aspect into your wedding photography!

Do you work with a second photographer?

Sometimes yes, and sometimes no. Depending on your requirements!

If you’ve booked a Gold or Platinum package then you’ll have a second photographer, not an assistant, an actual professional photographer!

Whilst a second photographer is not always necessary, I always suggest having one for the simple reason that two photographers are always able to capture more of your day than just one.

Do you do drone/aerial photography?

100% yes! We have a drone and we love to use it!

Are there any times where you can't use the drone?

Unfortunately there are some instances in which we're unable to operate our drone. Things like wet weather and extreme wind can stop us from flying. We're also bound by strict CASA regulations which can inhibit our drone operations.
A good way to find out if we'd be able to fly at your venue is to contact us, or download the "Can I Fly There?" app.

Do you edit all of our photographs?

Yes, I do! Every image that you receive has been hand-edited, one at a time, without batching in bulk groups or mass-producing results. I also pay special attention to your portrait/location edits as these usually provide a little more room for artistic editing over your ceremony photos!

How far will you travel and how much do you charge for travel?

I'm happy to travel as far as you need me to!

I don’t charge any travel fees for Melbourne metropolitan or Geelong weddings.

If your wedding falls outside of these areas, let me know and I can provide a quote on travel costs. Usually it’s a simple contribution to petrol and 1 nights accommodation depending on distance!

How long does it take before we receive our products and photographs?

Generally I allow 6-12 weeks depending on our current workload.

I know it’s a long time to wait! I do my best to get them to you as fast as possible without reducing the standard of quality, however your wedding can take 2-3 weeks to edit and I may have other weddings to edit before yours.

I send through some sneak peeks in the days following your wedding to cure your itch!

Online galleries are available once your photos have been presented to you.

Are our digital files watermarked?

Not at all. Your high resolution images do not bear any watermarks.

How many pictures will we receive?

The number of photographs taken depends on many things – the number of guests, hours of coverage, types of events, hours of dancing, number of locations, etc. My average for an eight hour day with a second photographer is somewhere in the range of 800-1200, but those numbers vary depending on the day itself.

Should we have a meeting?

I always suggest we meet and get to know each other, you can view my work and we can discuss the plan for your big day. Every wedding is different, so we can design a unique plan tailored specifically for your wedding day. Sometimes it is not possible for clients to meet, don’t worry we can talk via email and zoom and still get the best plan for your wedding day.

Are there any hidden extras?

Nope! My packages are all inclusive. The only extras are traveling costs which are outlined above.

Do we need to provide a meal for the photographer and your assistant?

Yes, we do require a meal if we are present during meal times. If your photography finishes after the entrée, no main meal is required. Wedding photography is demanding so your understanding is appreciated!

What if I hate my photo being taken!?

Relax! 95% of people I photograph don’t like their photo being taken. Wedding photography is not only about being technically adept at taking photographs; you also need an outgoing relaxed personality. Yes I will ‘pose’ you but I will do it in a way you won’t even notice. My job is to get your personalities out in the photos. You don’t get that by bossing people around and making them feel uncomfortable.

Who owns the copyright?

Copyright is shared between Christopher Winship Photography and the client. You have the copyright to use the images for personal use and printing. We hold the commercial copyright. Any images to be supplied to third party wedding suppliers for commercial use must have the ‘Christopher Winship Photography’ watermark attached.

Do you require a deposit?

I ask for a 20%, non-refundable deposit, regardless of the package you book. This confirms your booking for your special day!

We’d like to book you! What now?

You can email, facebook, call, sms or send a courier pigeon and we can go from there!

I will let you know if your date is available and answer any other questions you have.
